The Creeper inspired cake I made for my nephew’s 11th birthday. He loves the game Mindcraft and he asked me to make him this.
It has been a while since I posted a photo because I’ve been crazy busy. Here is a look at The Bloor during the press preview Hot Docs had. It is looking nice. Can’t wait for it to open!
Found this tree on my 16k run today by the lake shore. It was windy but the sun was out and I felt good.
Today I learned brush embroidery in cake decorating class.
I have mentioned before that I am obsessed with taking pictures of trees. When I was on the game reserve in South Africa I couldn’t stop taking snap shots of the cool tress there. Here are two of the better ones.
A lot of the trees there were stripped of a few layers of bark because of the elephants. They like to tare of the bark. I just love how the branches rich out to the sky.
This was taken at Casa Loma in Toronto. This is one of the windows upstairs in the tower. I was drawn to it because it was covered in graffiti. Peoples names and what not. It made me sad to see people defacing a historical landmark in my city.
This is the second submission I sent to Fotoblus for their Issue 13 contest. The theme was Lines, Shapes, and Patterns. I entitled this photo “City Lines”. Here I was exploring the symmetry and precision of the lines and shapes that make up the windows of this building. It is a building I pass almost every day and I wanted to take a photo of it from a different perspective because the building itself is not exciting but it is special. It is special because it is part of my day to day life, my neighborhood. If this building seized to be here it would make the city look weird. It would not be the same city I know, that I have grown up in. It would be another city. Someone else’s city.
I covered a dummy cake in fondant today in class. I have covered cakes in fondant before but this was the most successful attempt. The first photo is of the dummy cake just covered and the following pictures are of the decorations I started to make on the cake.
Next week will continue the cake next. I will post more pictures when it is done.
This was taken in London, England last February. My boyfriend and I were walking along the waterfront of the Thames River. As we were walking I heard music. We followed the music and ended up under a brick bridge. The source of the music was this band was playing. They looked like they were having a lot of fun and everyone around them that stopped to listen intern looked happy. They were playing happy folk type music. It was our last evening in London and I was starting to feel sad because of that and the music filled me with joy. It was a perfect ending to a great trip.
I submitted the first photo entitled “Natural Lines” into Fotoblur for their next issue. Fotoblur is a photography publication that also hosts a site where photographers can come together to share their work and discuss the art of photography. For every issue they ask the members of the Fotoblur community to contribute and submit their photos for the magazine. This month they were looking for photos the explored lines, shapes, and patterns and conceptual photos. The above is one of two of my submission.
The photo is part of the wall of the outside shower we had in the lodge at the game reserve we were staying at in South Africa. The lodge was called Savanna Game Reserve. It was a beautiful place.
The other two photos are of the actual outside shower and the little friend we encountered on a first morning there. I called him Paco. Paco was taking in the very warm African sun. The outside shower was amazing, by the way. I have only been in an outside shower once before in Colombia. Both times experiences were equally fantastic. If you every get the opportunity to have a shower outside, when it is hot outside obviously, I suggest you do it. There is nothing like it.
